" We have attended many Time-Share presentations over the years, but always chose to collect the gift offered but cordially declined to make the purchase. I always felt that I cannot afford the initial purchase fee, or to routinely have the time and money to travel to far away locations so as to make the initial investment worthwhile. Sometime in late 2007, we receive an invitation for such a presentation at GEVC.The gift offered was a free airfare for 2 and a two night stay in Hawaii. Having recently retired, I was able to rethink the advantages of timeshare ownership and jumped on the idea. We received our RCI membership number in February, 2008, and quickly began to learn the use of the RCI website to plan our vacations, and in particular, with the great help from Tina, Adrianne and Cynthy at the corporate office, I got a great education about the so called last-minute trip planning. Our first trip was to Mazatlan, Mexico at the truly beautiful Pueblo Bonito Resort at Emerald Bay which cost us a mere 8500 points. I soon realized that having the flexibility of when, and where to travel I could maximize our travel potential.
In May, 2008 we took advantage of the gift coupon, and added a full week on the island of Maui to the free 2 nights stay on the big island. Since then we have been to Lake Tahoe in July, Puerto Vallarta in August, to end the year with a two week stay in Cabo San Lucas. That's 7 weeks in 2008 at some very special resorts, Not-Too-Shaby.
In February of this year we spent another two weeks in Cabo, an ideal location for two of my favorite pastimes - Fishing and Scuba diving. Our April travel reservations of one week in Cabo followed by another in Acapulco were quickly cancelled when the Swine flu epidemic affected travel to Mexico, yet, I was able to quickly pick up two weeks on the island of Maui which just ended May 27th. Since then, I have been exitedly busy planning our next adventure - 12 days in Costa Rica starting this coming Sunday, June 14th.
Life is great, and I hope we can continue to enjoy it thanks to GEVC and RCI."
